Family mentoring provides personalized support to relocating families as they adapt to everyday life in a new area. The mentor acts as a reliable guide, offering advice on practical matters and sharing information about the community.
Your mentor can support you with topics such as:
- How everyday services work and where to find the help you need
- Practical tips for housing, transportation, and building social connections
- Leisure activities and hobby opportunities available in Hyrynsalmi
Program background
Family mentoring is part of Hyrynsalmi’s relocation services. The mentoring program was initiated through the Työn ja perheen Kainuu project. As a result of the project, Hyrynsalmi decided to invest in being a family-friendly employer. One aspect of this was introducing family mentoring for new employees. However, we saw that mentoring could also be valuable for other newcomers, which is why the program was expanded to become part of the relocation services, supporting all families and individuals moving to Hyrynsalmi.
